The Trust’s Recovery College which sits under the Community Service line for adults of working has vacancies for the role of Band 5 Employment Specialist. The role would be suitable for someone who has a strong working knowledge of applying recovery in the real world setting by actively supporting the process of engaging people to function within an employment setting and help people experience their potential. The role will be embedded in each of our 5 London Borough that South West London and Saint. George’s Mental Health Trust serves: Kingston , Richmond, Sutton , Merton and Wandsworth. The role will work directly with Community Mental Health teams for adults of working age, and will be managed and supervised by our Lead Employment Specialist.

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within South West London and St Georges Mental Health Trust, the pioneers of the Individual Placement and Support Model of vocational rehabilitation in the UK.

As an Employment Specialist within a South West London and St Georges Mental Health Community Mental Health Team, you will have the opportunity to proactively manage a caseload of people who have experienced mental health problems who are unemployed and / or currently off work. This role enables you to deliver the Individual Placement and Support approach - evidence based model of vocational rehabilitation for people with mental health problems. Working directly with all relevant stakeholders: the service user, CMHT staff, GPs, employers, Human Resources and Occupational Health services to enable service users to gain, retain and sustain employment.

The Trust’s Employment Specialist Lead will support the development and application of this role through guidance and supervision as part of SWLSTG NHS Trust structure of staff, promoting well-being and professional development.

We are looking someone who will take a proactive role in the development of a high quality and responsive recovery and employment work for service users in order to support the objectives of the Trust.

You will also be expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
