At Hawkhurst we have a vacancy for a band 3 cook 37.5 hours per week working alternative weekends

The facilities service is responsible for the provision of cleaning, food service and other patient support activities, by ensuring that our systems work to fully support the patient or service user journey.

The Cook will be responsible for the day to day management of Food production within the community hospital. The Cook will assist and support the Facilities Site Supervisor in managing and supporting the catering team, in areas of sickness management, rota planning, staff redeployment and annual leave. The Cook will be a point of contact during the working day for all catering staff. The Cook will also be a point of contact for Facilities Operatives in the absence of the Facilities Supervisor or Facilities Site Supervisor. The post holder will assist the Facilities Site Supervisor in the running of the department and will assist with the various functions of the department. The post holder will be required to work in an active role in the kitchen.

Facilities teams are expected to be kind and responsive, professional and informative and to contribute to the quality of our services by demonstrating the behaviours detailed in the Trust ‘CARE Values into action Framework’.

The successful candidate will need to display how they meet the essential criteria set out in the Person Specification. Trainee positions will be considered for those that do not meet the essential criteria.

Successful applicants are required to have the qualification level specified in the person specification in order to carry out the job, however, we do welcome applicants from individuals wishing to further their knowledge and skills and to gain this recognised qualification, which we will support. So if you do not have the essential qualification for the role, this may not be an automatic barrier to you being offered an interview.

If you are successful at interview but do not have the essential qualification for the role, we will employ you as trainee and will support you to gain this qualification. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team, gaining valuable work experience and continuing to get paid. Once you receive the qualification you will automatically move into the position advertised.
