Business and Admin Apprentice - Ward Clerk

We are looking for a friendly, cheerful, enthusiastic and organized person to join our team as an Apprentice Ward Clerk in the busy Neonatal Directorate. This is a marvelous opportunity as the successful applicant will work and train with an established ward clerk team over a 12 month period and will have the opportunity to gain an NVQ level 2 qualification

Duties will include greeting families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Transitional Care Ward and Outpatient Baby Clinic and assisting with their enquiries as well as answering the telephone, verifying and updating patient details onto the hospital computer systems, admitting and discharging patients from the hospital computer system, filing patient files and photocopying.

You should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Mathematics and English with good evidence of computer literacy. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work well in a busy environment with lots of competing demands.

The post is for 37.5 hours per week which will be allocated to fit in with the existing ward clerk rota, with shifts between 07.15am and 8.15pm to cover the service 7 days per week.
