Job Reference: 425-A-19-35573

Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust
£24,214 to £30,112 per annum pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced paediatric nurse to join the urology nursing team. The urology nurses are a busy team, who provide care for hundreds of patients every year.

This is a varied post working alongside a large multidisciplinary team within the trust including Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

You will be expected to care for a variety of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, who require urological input such as, dressing removals, catheterisation training and catheter care, as well as the supervision and competency training of staff within the trust. You will provide specialist training for schools and families on urological cares such as, catheterisation and the care of supra pubic catheters/ureterostomies.

You need a good understanding of the evidence based care of urological conditions and procedures and the ability to plan and implement complex care packages for some patients such as, spinal cord injuries. You will eventually perform diagnostic testing such as, non-invasive bladder scanning.

This is a developmental role and there is potential for you to enrol on the non-medical prescribing course with a view to doing a nurse led clinic and the role becoming permanent.

You should be keen to expand your knowledge and enjoy a challenge; however comprehensive training will be given in all aspects of urology care, alongside the established urology and continence team.

Further information or informal discussion please contact Sarah Boulby, Lead nurse for Urology.
