We are looking for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Preschool Complex Needs) to join us on a part time basis. The post is for 0.6 WTE, 22.5 hours per week, and based in Haywards Heath.

This position is ideal for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience of working with preschool children with complex needs. The post is based at Nightingale Primary Care Centre in Haywards Heath working with a Band 7 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and Band 3 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to support a caseload of preschool children across the mid-Sussex area. An interest in dysphagia would be helpful, and training can be provided.

The post sits in the Preschool Complex Needs team and is well supported by Band 7s with a range of specialisms including ASC, dysphagia, hearing impairment, and developmental language disorder.

The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive induction which will lead into excellent regular supervision from Specialist Speech and Language Therapists (Band 7), along with an identified “buddy” for more informal support, and additional peer group supervision. We have clinically-focused locality meetings every six weeks, an annual Professional Study Day, an annual Allied Health Professions Celebration Day, clinical forums, a journal club, and ad hoc in-house training. We offer in-house training in a range of specialist areas and benefit from access to Trust funding for external courses when appropriate. We also have equipment budgets which enable the service to continually improve resources for assessment and therapy.

There is the option to increase the number of sessions and include some time in the Early Years team. It is likely that there will be further Band 6 sessions available within the next few weeks and we are happy to consider part time, full time or annualised hours.
