The Community Intravenous Administration Service (CIVAS) is a citywide nursing team, based at Hunslet Health Centre. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, experienced staff nurse to complement our team, providing high quality care in patient's homes.

CIVAS is a small team of nursing staff who support the early discharge of patients from Leeds Teaching Hospitals to achieve the best health outcomes through tailored antimicrobial intravenous therapies in patients own homes. It is a proactive award winning service and you will be joining a dynamic and progressive team to ensure that CIVAS is able to grow and support more patients to be cared for at home.

The role is full time (37.5 hours a week) and you will be expected to work a shift pattern to meet the needs of the service which operates from 7.15 am to 10pm daily, 7 days a week. Weekend working is a requirement and the applicant should expect to be available to work, 2 weekends per month.

As a staff nurse with us, you will provide holistic nursing care to people within their own homes, provide ongoing daily patient assessments, administer intravenous therapies, obtain venous blood samples to monitor haematological status, insert peripheral venous cannulas, and provide care and maintenance of vascular access devices.

The successful applicant will be a registered nurse (RGN) and will need to be a good communicator, have strong interpersonal skills and be willing to undertake training specific to the requirements of the service. They will be able to work on their own initiative and as part of the team, and adhere to the expected behaviours of Leeds Community Healthcare. Experience of working within a related post registration role is desirable.

If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48.83 or Standard £30) from your salary. There will be no charge if you are enrolled in the DBS Update Service.
