Dialysis Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity in our Kings Norton Clinic for a Dialysis Support Worker who wants to make a difference in our patient’s lives. A comprehensive Dialysis Support Worker training programme will be provided to you, including on-the-job training, e-learning and access to our in-house education programme ‘d Academy’.

RESPONISIBILITIES:
• Prepare patients for dialysis including pre –assessment (blood pressure, temperature, weighing checks)
• Assist with the connection of patients to the dialysis machines
• Support the registered nurse with the administration of anticoagulants and monitor medication
• Programming the machine as per prescription
• Safely accessing the patient’s fistula, following full training and competency assessment
• Monitoring the patient throughout treatment – conducting standard observations and reporting changes,
issues or concerns
• Assist in the discontinuation of dialysis including washes and removal of needles
• Ensure and maintain a clean environment for prevention of cross infection.
• Comply with Legislative, Best Practise and Diaverum’s requirements for training, Health and Safety, CPR,
Data protection and all other policies.
• Support patients with aspects of self-care Patient and carer education
• Link roles such as health and safety

REQUIREMENTS:
• Must to educated to GCSE level or equivalent
• Minimum NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
• Ideally previous experience in hospital and healthcare setting
• Ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team
• Have a positive and dynamic approach to providing safe and effective delivery of care
• Excellent communication skills (oral & written) with fluency in English

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship
