Consultant Paediatrician with interest in neonates
Prince Charles Hospital (PCH), and Royal Glamorgan Hospital (RGH), Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB)

Applications are invited for this full time onsultant post. This is a general paediatric post with interest in neonates. The role will provide some Consultant contribution to tier 2 rota. Areas of special interests that support the Department’s service needs will be considered. The post holder will commence in PCH and then work across both PCH and RGH following implementation of service changes.

Reconfiguration of Paediatric Services within CTMUHB

The paediatric services in CTM UHB are in the process of reconfiguration changes. The Neonatal services and the consultant-led obstetrics services were consolidated to PCH on the 9th of March 2019. Local Neonatal Unit in PCH has a physical capacity of 19 cots, operational at a staffed-capacity of 15 cots and provides care for babies of 32 weeks gestational age and above. A Midwife-Led Unit is now established in Royal Glamorgan Hospital site providing service for low risk deliveries. At present time both PCH and RGH continue to provide in-patient paediatric services. The changes to paediatric services are expected to be completed over the coming months resulting in consolidation of paediatric in-patient services to Prince Charles Hospital and establishment of a large Paediatric Assessment Unit in Royal Glamorgan Hospital linked to the Children’s Centre.

The post holder would participate in a non-resident consultant on-call rota. Both Hospitals are situated north of Cardiff, with good transport links and accessibility to the M4 on a green belt site. They are located in an ideal position for both the attractions of a city but also open countryside, Brecon Beacons and coastal areas.

In view of recent changes to Home Office immigration regulations all applicants must state their current immigration status, including expiry date.
