We are looking for dynamic and motivated Specialty Doctors, to join our friendly and supportive team at North Cumbria University Hospitals Trust (NCUH).These posts will be based at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.

Applications are welcome from candidates wishing to work either full or part-time as a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine. These posts will work alongside our team of Consultants.

Any applicant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time, will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis in consultation with consultant colleagues.

The Trust has recognised that there is a national shortage of candidates for Specialty Doctor vacancies in some specialties. Therefore the Trust has agreed to award a recruitment premium to these posts for up to four years. The recruitment premium we would like to offer for this post is in addition to the salary for the individual post. Typically the rate will be 15% of starting salary.

You should be qualified a minimum of 4 years (including FY1), have 10 months EM experience in the UK, ALS, ATLS, and be able to work on a middle grade rota. It is “good to talk” and we look forward to discussing with you how you can develop your career here at NCUH.

You will be part of a team of Specialty Doctors, delivering a 24 hour service under Consultant supervision. As well as providing clinical cover, you will also undertake administrative and supervisory duties as part of the Specialty Doctor rota. Fully registered with the GMC, you will be able to demonstrate the experience and skills needed for this role, including time spent in an A&E department. In return, you can expect outstanding training and education opportunities, delivered under the supervision of our Consultant medical staff.

Applicants must hold an MBBS qualification and must be registered with the GMC.

The post currently attracts a discretionary recruitment premium of up to 15% (based on basic salary) per annum. This is pensionable, payable for up to 4 years and is reviewed by the Trust on an annual basis.

The post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The post is subject to the Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service.
