CONSULTANTS in GENERAL PAEDIATRICS (2.8 WTE)

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, enthusiastic and innovative team of general paediatricians within a leading tertiary paediatric centre, rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. The General Paediatrics team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BWCH) provide secondary level general paediatric services to the children and young people of Birmingham. In addition, we support the care of children with complex health needs, working closely with colleagues from medical and surgical specialties.

 

These posts represent expansion of the general paediatric team to meet increasing demand. You will be joining a team of 14.2 WTE Consultants including these posts. Our team includes paediatric trainees, foundation year doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and clinical fellows.

 

Birmingham Women’s & Children’s NHS Foundation Trust was formed in February 2017 by the integration of Birmingham Children’s and Birmingham Women’s Hospitals. The organisation also hosts child and adolescent mental health services, including an inpatient psychiatric unit and community mental health services for young people. The Trust is a leading teaching and research institution and partner of all the city’s universities.

 

The General Paediatrics team provides secondary care including outpatient, urgent care and inpatient services to a catchment population of 450,000, representing approximately 45% of the population of the City of Birmingham. We also support the holistic medical care of children with complex needs who are under the care of specialty colleagues. Our clinical work offers huge diversity, maintaining and developing our clinical knowledge and skills.

Applicants should possess MRCPCH, be registered with the General Medical Council and be eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of this, at the time of interview. The successful applicants would start as soon as possible, after appointment.
