Applications are invited for a Consultant post to join the Department of Rheumatology at the James Paget University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The appointee will be an individual with enthusiasm, strong self-motivation and the skills necessary to contribute to the development of our patient-centred Rheumatology service. The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all patients under their team. You will be covering outpatient services in the general Rheumatology clinics and joint consultant sub-specialty clinics, and providing Teaching and training to our junior staff, nursing staff and medical students.

The post also involves 2 sessions a week within the emergency assessment and discharge unit (EADU) The unit is to improve patient care, reduce unnecessary delays, accelerate decision-making, and enhance early discharge.

The post holder will take part in the General Medical on-call rota with a current frequency of between 1 in 11 and 1 in 12. The on-call frequency will change with new appointments. On-call arrangements are also under review as part of our patient flow project.

The appointee will be expected to hold MBBS or equivalent & MRCP or equivalent as well as hold a certificate or being within 6 months of completion of training or being on or eligible for the UK Specialist Register at the date of interview
