NHS 111 Call Handlers take a variety of incoming calls from patients, providing them with an appropriate response to urgent healthcare needs within a timeframe. This could mean booking a GP appointment, advising them to attend an out of hour’s service or even dispatching an ambulance.

Working as a NHS 111 Call Handler is challenging, stimulating and highly rewarding, where you’re making a difference to patients who use the service every day. We have got plenty of opportunity for career progression too. The 111 service is a 24/7 service, operating 365 days a year so patients can seek help and advice at any time therefore you need to be prepared to work shifts including evenings, nights and weekends, Bank holidays - including Christmas – are included within the Rota’s.

You will need to be able to commit to a 6 week full time training programme which will be fully paid.

A good communicator with an excellent telephone manner

Passionate about high quality patient care

Organised, have a strong attention to detail and have good administration skills

Computer literate – including in Microsoft Office – and keen to learn new skills

Caring, compassionate and able to remain calm under pressure

Not only do we offer an excellent basic salary of £18,813 - £20,795 pro rata you will also receive the following unsocial hour’s allowance:

All time Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8pm and before 6am Time plus 35%.

All time on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight) Time plus 70%
