South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust is covered by six air ambulance units operating in partnership with five air ambulance charities across the South West. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this team working within South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust EPRR department. These vacancies will be in partnership with the Cornwall Air Ambulance Charity and located at Cornwall Airbase in Newquay.

The aim of our service is to deliver the highest possible standard of care to our patients in the pre-hospital environment, which may involve transport by air or land.

Applications are invited from HCPC registered Paramedics and Qualified Specialist Paramedics in Critical Care who fulfil the essential criteria (described in the application pack) and would like the challenge of providing specialist clinical care to our patients in challenging environments. The unit provides critical and enhanced car focused on patient care responding to incidents via helicopter and Critical Care Cars currently between the hours of 0730 and 0200 operating over early and late shift patterns.

Successful candidates will also be expected as part of their role to continually develop, engaging in ongoing postgraduate education, hospital placements and other relevant courses, as well as engaging with the CAAT charity in a range of events.

Successful applicants will progress through a HEMS Technical Crew Member qualification (if required) and clinical development as needed to operate as SP-CC (Specialist Paramedic – Critical Care). They will be expected to achieve all the standards detailed in the job description and study at academic level 7 if required.

One day practical assessments including fitness will take place at Cornwall Airbase.
