Children’s Occupational Therapist – Band 7
Hours: up to full time Bank work
Based at: Optional bases Ashtead Clinic, White House in Addlestone, Farnham Hospital and Guildford.

Come join our friendly Children’s Occupational Therapist team. We’re within easy reach of London and Surrey offers the balance between city and countryside all accessible via major road networks M25, M23, A3 and M3. We are able to offer a 6 month contact.

This post will offer the successful candidates the opportunity to work within a supportive local team of therapists and assistants; and benefit from being part of the wider Surrey service with professional leadership and an impressive range of CPD opportunities. The service is for children aged 0-19 years, who have a variety of conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and learning difficulties. If you’ve an area of interest there’s opportunity to develop and utilise these skills.

You will work within community settings including nurseries, schools and special schools and units, seeing children within their occupational environment. Essential roles include assessment, equipment recommendation, advice and training, group and workshop facilitation and individual therapy. We follow best practice evidence and contribute to research to support the profession grow. We deliver services targeted at the whole population supporting early year’s settings, schools and parents to meet needs pre- referral.

Due to the community nature of this post the candidates will need to have experience of independent working, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team. You will need to have experience of leading projects, for example audit, service evaluation and service development and have skills in training, mentoring and supervising.

Employed by CSH Surrey as part of the Surrey-wide Children and Family Health Surrey service
Children and Family Health Surrey is the new, Surrey-wide NHS community health service for children and young people from birth up to 19 years of age (up to 25 for young adults with additional needs) and their parents and carers. It also provides some services in parts of North East Hampshire and Farnham.
By working together as one service, Children and Family Health Surrey will ensure children and young people continue to be at the centre of the care they receive as well as improve access to healthcare services across the county and in north east Hampshire and Farnham.
You will join a service that will be delivered through an exciting new partnership between three of Surrey’s established and respected community healthcare providers and employers: CSH Surrey and First Community Health and Care and Surrey’s mental health provider, Surrey and Borders NHS Foundation Trust. Together they provide a single community health service that includes health visiting, school-age nursing and immunisations, therapies (dietetics, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy), emotional wellbeing services and specialist health services for children with medical, physical and learning disability needs.
For the first time, Children and Family Health Surrey will bring together physical and emotional health services that are designed first and foremost around the needs of the children, young people and their families

Successful applicants, who have not worked for CSH within the last 12 months, will receive an amount of £2000 paid in two instalments: - £1000 upon commencement and a further £1000 following successful completion of probation. These payments are pro-rata for part- time posts.
