Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a well performing Foundation Trust serving a population of around 441,000 across the Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales/North Amber Valley, High Peak and North East Derbyshire districts. Chesterfield Royal is a medium sized District General Hospital with a workforce of around 3,800 staff with a total revenue of £237 million. The Trust has good financial control, currently operating with a positive financial surplus and was recently rated “Good” by the CQC following their latest inspection in February 2017.

The Trust is an integral part of the regional health and social care system which provides a full range of acute adult services, together with 24 hour accident and emergency care and specialist children’s services. We are committed to working with our partners in health and social care to deliver long term financial sustainability and resilience in our performance to ensure we provide high quality services and excellent patient care.

Following a major organisational restructure, reducing the Trust from four to three Divisions and the introduction of Clinical Care Units (CCUs), we are now seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated General Manager for the Surgical Services Division.

The General Manager will be a key member of the Divisional Leadership Team. We are looking for an exceptional individual, who demonstrates our Trust values and is the right fit for our organisation, in order to help deliver our strategic and operational objectives in a structured, compassionate and driven style with focused direction. Applicants will need to demonstrate broad and credible operational experience, evidence of delivery success, a commitment to ‘hands on’ visible leadership and a willingness to work flexibly and go that extra mile.

Responsible for the development of strategy and plans for the Division, you will also need to ensure that the right approach to performance management and quality governance is in place across the Division to deliver these plans. In this high profile role you will co-ordinate service planning and service delivery, working with divisional colleagues to ensure the Division works effectively within agreed budgets.

You will also lead on the Division’s transformation programme, representing a great opportunity to make a real difference to patient care and requiring you to engage and influence stakeholders across the Division and beyond, within agreed financial boundaries.
