LOCUM CONSULTANT IN RESPIRATORY

10 SESSIONS - ACUTE MEDICAL ON-CALL

12 MONTH MATERNITY COVER

 

Applications are invited for a motivated and enthusiastic colleague to join our department. This is a 12 month maternity cover, to start with immediate effect. The successful appointee will join four existing respiratory consultants. We would envisage the new appointment will allow the department to reorganise and devote clinical time to scheduled and unscheduled activity in a more focused manner.

The department of Respiratory Medicine in Glan Clwyd Hospital is forward looking, progressive and primarily motivated to provide excellent patient care. A broad range of sub-specialist areas are already represented including difficult asthma, interstitial lung disease, COPD, pleural disease, bronchiectasis and lung cancer.

The infrastructure required to deliver an excellent respiratory service is in place. This includes a dedicated high care respiratory bay within our ward where NIV and high flow oxygen is delivered by a highly trained nurse led service. We have twice weekly procedure lists for bronchoscopy, EBUS and thoracoscopy, navigational bronchoscopy; a fully equipped pulmonary physiology department; virtual clinics for nodules and cardiothoracic follow up; local and regional MDTs for lung cancer, ILD and asthma; and a motivated and highly trained specialist nursing team. We would support the development of any complimentary sub-specialist interest that our new colleague would wish to pursue in the future.

The successful candidate will also participate on the medical on-call.

The department has a proven track record in clinical trial recruitment and medical education and in addition to six junior doctors also supports both an academic FY2 and a teaching/interventional fellowship (StR grade) post. As such, should the applicant have an interest in either research or teaching this can be accommodated.
