Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) is a ground-breaking mental health partnership established to revolutionise mental health care for 0-25 year olds.

It integrates the expertise of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust (BWC) with the Priory Group, Beacon UK and The Children’s Society. A single point of access is available for GPs, schools, local authorities, children, young people, young adults and families, to a wide range of mental health support options. From flexible community and home-based support, to inpatient and urgent care, the service offers mental health support to children, young people and young adults across the city of Birmingham

Consultant Psychiatrists Community Posts (For age group 18-25)               10 PAs  

Location – 1 at Birmingham Road, Sutton Coldfield and 1 at Finch Road, Lozells.

High quality consultant appointments are critical to ensuring senior clinical leadership and providing excellent services. We are looking for engaged and forward thinking Consultants who can work with us to develop our services. To deliver our vision, we require our workforce to have the skills, values and dedication and able to have a positive impact on improving services.The post holder will provide medical leadership and work collaboratively with a professional, highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, in the assessment and treatment of community patients from 18 years of age up until their 25th birthday.

You will be qualified with full registration with GMC or within 6 months of obtaining specialist registration.  Experience of working within an MDT is essential.  You will have Approved Clinician status and S12 approval or be willing to achieve these within 3 months of appointment.

The successful applicant will be employed by Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Foundation Trust. As  well as working within the ground-breaking FTB service, there are a number of other benefits including a strong commitment to continuous professional development. FTB has links with Institute of Mental Health, University of Birmingham and supports consultants with interest in research and medical education.  The Trust will offer a generous re-location package; further training opportunities and support candidates if they wish to pursue academic qualifications relevant to their role. Depending on the interests of the post-holder there are excellent opportunities to be involved in management with possibility of taking up additional formal medical management role service development, and under/post-graduate teaching.
