We are looking for registered nurses with extensive experience of working with adolescents or young adults with complex mental health needs, in the community.

As part of the Forward Thinking Birmingham partnership, the post holder will undertake a wide range of duties to develop, support and enhance the case management for those young people who are cared for within the partnership.

The post holder will have knowledge of relevant legislation, advanced knowledge of treatment techniques and interventions for mental illness, be skilled in working with other agencies including the voluntary sector and have previous experience of supervising junior staff.

The applicant will have responsibility for a defined caseload of patients with complex mental health needs, alongside contributing to team and service development. The role is split approximately 80% clinical work and 20% leadership/management, providing clinical leadership and support for the mental health practitioners within each HUB. The applicant will also contribute to the leadership for existing systems within the HUBs such as CAPA, CPA, risk management and contribute to service development, training, auditing, and MDT strategic approach.

The post holder will be flexible, enthusiastic, innovative, confident, team worker. Have experience of joint working with other agencies, and have knowledge of Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding Procedures and be willing to undertake further training.

The post holder will be required to have a high level of communication skills, both written and verbal, be compassionate, respectful and value individual patient needs. They will have the ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner, be resilient and emotionally intelligent and engage positively with children, young adults and families.

The post holder must be prepared to work flexibly across a 7 day working week, between 8am - 8pm weekdays and weekends where appropriate.

A driving license and daily access to a car for work purposes is also essential as the service is citywide.
