Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

We require an Specialist Pharmacist with a keen interest in Medicines Information to join our expanding clinical team who will take lead responsibility to develop our Medicines Information service for the Trust. The successful applicant will be part of an established, supportive and innovative Medicines Information Pharmacy team working closely with the Trust Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, Pan Mersey Area Prescribing Committee and the Trust Clinical leads. You will lead in coordination of the provision of researched, evidence-based, accurate medicines information to a range of disciplines within the Trust. You will also audit, monitor and develop the Medicines Information Service within the Trust in line with national and local developments and guidelines and user feedback.

You will have a post graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy and will have recent experience in the pharmaceutical care of acute medical and surgical patients. Applicants should be able to demonstrate being an excellent communicator, enthusiastic, adaptable, able to work both as a team member and as an individual. Ideally you will have some experience of line-managing and/or mentoring junior pharmacists and trainees. Participation in teaching , clinical audit and practice research is encouraged and will be supported. We also encourage development of Pharmacists in areas such as non-medical prescribing and management skills.

The post involves participation in the late night and weekend rota, and in the emergency cover on-call rota (approximate frequency 1 in 15). The post holder will be based at Southport District General Hospital but may be required to work at other Trust sites on occasion.
