Vacancy for a IT Support Engineer

Hours: Full-time (some evenings and weekends may be required)

Salary: Salary up to £25k pa

Location: Based at Cardinal Square, Derby and Staffordshire House, Stoke

About the role:

Vocare are seeking to appoint a IT Support Engineer to work within the digital team to provide IT Support to end users primarily by telephone and ensure that support issues are resolved effectively and within agreed targets.

Duties within the role:

  • Resolving service desk tickets appropriately within SLA
  • Effective communications with users in relation to issues
  • Proactively look for issues
  • Built and maintain equipment for end users
  • Produce and maintain documentation for support processes
  • Correct logging of issues in ticket system
  • Responsible for routine daily administration including:
    • Changing backup media
    • Checking backup logs
    • Monitoring voice recorder
    • Checking forum for new or outstanding faults
    • Checking morning email and DTS services
  • Responsible for logging faults with suppliers.
  • Responsible for logging ICT faults, dealing with problems/requests in an effective and customer-focused manner, undertaking first-level support where possible. Responsible for keeping users updated as to the status of their problem/request.
  • Liaise with other members of the team for support and escalation, providing adequate and accurate information in order to discuss and review escalated calls.
  • Act as first point of contact for in hours support of desktop PCs, printers, client software, telecommunications devices, etc.
  • Provide other ad-hoc support and help-desk services to staff and other associated companies where necessary.
  • Provide support to other departments in implementing routine changes to equipment or software.
  • Responsible for set-up of IT requirements for any management sessions and meetings, including training events.
  • Provide assistance with hardware and software installations, planned upgrades and maintenance as delegated by senior members of the IT team.
  • To create, modify and maintain system user accounts.
  • Contribute towards the maintenance of the Group website and intranet services.
  • To participate in appropriate training and development activities.
  • To ensure that all systems users comply with the current IM&T organisational policy.
  • Other reasonable duties as required by Senior Management.

What we are looking for:

Successful candidates will hold 5 GCSE's including English Language & Maths, or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Ideal candidates will also have previous experience working on all versions of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft office products. Excellent communication skills will also be essential for success within this role alongside an ability to communicate complex information face to face and by the phone to individuals who are non technical.
