Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust was formed on Tuesday 1st October 2019, following the merger of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. The two Trusts joined together to provide integrated mental health, physical health and learning disability services to communities.

Occupational Therapist

Band: 5

Hours: 22.5 hours available (flexible working patterns will be considered dependant on the service being able to support the request).

Salary: £24,214 - £30,112

Location: Quedgeley, Gloucester

We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with experience of working with children to join the Children’s Occupational Therapy Service.

The service enables children with acute or chronic illness and/or disability to maximize their development, and become independent participants in the community. They work both with the children and with the families, carers and other support personnel in creating an environment in which children can succeed in reaching their full potential.

Within this post you will deliver a service for children who are in-patients on the Children’s Centre, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital providing assessment and intervention to facilitate safe discharge home after both unplanned and planned admissions.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop your Community Paediatric skills providing assessment of Children and Young People with significant occupational performance difficulties due to acute episode of illness/injury, or disability and to deliver therapeutic intervention according to clinical need, which may include group treatment, individual treatment, consultation and advice to address occupational performance needs in the home and to facilitate access to the educational curriculum in the school setting.

Using the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance (CMOP) and the Care Aims Approach as a framework the Children’s Occupational Therapy service believes in using a client-centred approach to address the occupational performance deficits experienced by individuals within the context of their own social, cultural, spiritual and physical environment.
