The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services from one acute hospital in Guildford and two adult community services hospitals across Surrey. The Trust serves a population of over 330,000 across south west Surrey. We are a specialist tertiary cancer centre, offering state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services to a population of up to two million.

A regional cancer centre for Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire, it is also a tertiary specialist centre for ENT and Maxillofacial surgery. The Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (key-hole surgery) is one of only three such training units in the UK.

The Trust has strong links with the nearby University of Surrey and staff are well supported if they wish to undertake further study. As well as this, staff are able to develop and enhance skills and knowledge by undertaking post-qualification support and training at the hospital’s dedicated Education Centre. Would you like to work with a friendly and dynamic Research Team contributing to the future development of disease prevention and treatment?

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to work within our research teams as the Research Co-ordinator.

The Research Coordinator (RC) is a specialized research professional working with and under the direction of the clinical Principal Investigator (PI). While the Principal Investigator is primarily responsible for the overall design, conduct, and management of the clinical trial, the RC supports, facilitates clinical trial activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of the study. By performing these duties, the RC works with the PI, research nurses, research team, sponsor, and trust to support and provide guidance on the administration of the compliance, feasibility, financial, personnel and other related aspects of the clinical study during set up, maintenance and close out.

The RC is responsible for the coordination of specific clinical trials within their allocated Clinical Research Team. Working closely with the lead research nurse of each trial, they are responsible for ensuring their allocated clinical trials are set up and managed in accordance with regulatory, sponsor and RD&I Office requirements.

 

Ideally with previous co-ordination experience having worked within a hospital setting and familiar with medical terminology, you will work within the guidelines and policies for the conduct of clinical trials, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with the principles of GCP. In addition you will have excellent communication, administrative and IT skills.
