We are looking to recruit a solicitor, qualified in the area of clinical negligence to run the Health Board's Legal Services Department as the Head of Legal Services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership of legal services, oversight and management of claims/ redress activity across the Health Board and for proposing evidence based procedure or service changes which potentially impact across a range of service areas.

The post holder will be the point of contact for legal advice relating to patient care across the Health Board and will be expected to provide advice where appropriate or source advice for Health Board staff. There will also be opportunity to represent the Health Board at appropriate inquests, meetings and court proceedings.

The post will liaise with services across the Health Board to ensure that the learning results in service improvement, enhanced patient care and experiences.

The successful candidate will have experience at a senior management level in a clinical negligence, personal injury litigation system; experience of strategy/policy development; and strong leadership and change management skills.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

. There will be a requirement to travel to meetings and events across Wales and the UK.

Office base will be within the Hywel Dda area, specific base will be decided on discussion with the successful candidate.
