Hillingdon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) commission’s health and care services for around 300,000 residents in the second largest Borough in London, reaching from Northwood and Ruislip in the north to Heathrow in the south. The CCG is constituted of 46 member practices and functions as part of the North West London (NWL) Collaboration of 8 CCGs.

A new and exciting role has arisen for an experienced multi-skilled IT Technical Expert to join the CCG’s small but dedicated team of IT professionals to support the delivery of information technology to corporate headquarters and 46member practices in the Hillingdon Community.

This role is crucial in ensuring that our information systems are highly available, responsive and secure. The Flexible Technical Resource will provide technical hands-on expertise for a wide portfolio of projects and systems, across Corporate and Primary Care settings. The post holder will work closely with Projects Managers and the Infrastructure leads along with senior managers across the CCG and across NWL, as well as 3rd party partners and vendors, to ensure technology is:

• Appropriate for the needs of the stakeholders

• Represents value for money

• Safe to use, secure, robust and sustainable

• Introduced in a controlled manner

• Delivered as specified against agreed quality, time and budget criteria.

• Managed efficiently & effectively and embedded into the organisation

The post holder will be provide technical expertise to the successful delivery of IT projects in line with the CCG’s IT strategy and business goals. They will support the AD of Informatics and Senior CCG IT management to deliver change to the CCG and GP Practices. They will closely engage with all levels of staff and suppliers to deliver the required benefits.

They will act as a technical specialist in the field of infrastructure for the IT Department and assist in the management 3rd line support issues for the ICT server /data storage and network infrastructure and IT service delivery HCCG and associated stakeholders. The post will undertake installations, configuration and troubleshooting on servers and associated system. Ensuring they provide additional 3rd line level technical capability, support and capacity to the infrastructure and projects teams to meets targets, monitoring and evaluating progress against agreed objectives, identifying and managing change as required.

The post holder will be required to nurture and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, maintaining networks internally and within the local health community.

The post holders will also provide line management and technical expertise for project staff (including any contracted project resources).

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience and be able to show evidence of continued professional development. Expertise and sound technical ability gained through experience administering and maintaining IT infrastructures are essential for this post, while experience of supporting IT networks and systems within a health care setting is highly desirable.

To be considered for this post you must be able to work effectively with both technical and nontechnical colleagues at all levels within the organisation, and demonstrate an ability to successfully handle multiple, complex and large scale tasks, together with a proven ability to deliver work objectives successfully on your own initiative. Excellent problem solving, good written and verbal communication skills are vital for this role. You will also be expected to create and maintain documentation for both technical and non-technical staff.
