Dental Officer Band A( £40629 - £60943 pro rata) plus teaching allowance



We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic dentist to join our team providing dental care to disadvantaged groups, including domiciliary visits and treatment of adults and children in areas where access to dental care is poor.

For part of their time the post holder will supervise undergraduate dental students and PCDs participating in the University of Sheffield Dental School’s outreach teaching programme. The post holder will be recommended to the University for appointment as an honorary clinical lecturer

The successful applicant will be fully registered with the GDC and have (or be eligible for) a PCT performer number. In addition the applicant will have completed vocational training, and for teaching will have 2 years experience in dentistry in a primary care setting. You will need to have excellent communication skills, shown commitment to clinical governance including audit, and demonstrated the ability to work as part of a healthcare team.

You will be joining a friendly and experienced team supported by senior community dentists with a range of special interests including paediatric dentistry, special care dentistry, sedation and gerodontology. In addition to the undergraduate training programme we also support training at DFT, DC1 and StR levels, and dental nurse NVQ training posts. The service has an excellent track record of encouraging continuing education and career development, and also supports active programmes of clinical audit and research. The Community dentist contract provides an indicative training allowance to support training and development.
