Macmillan Upper GI Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity to join has arisen to become part of a small well-established Upper GI Cancer Team in a friendly and supportive work environment. The post holder will be part of a dynamic team playing a pivotal role in leading and delivering Upper GI service and will be a key member of the team in delivering high quality patient care.

The successful candidate would be working as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team within the Surgical and Cancer directorate. It is a busy, friendly, team who are passionate and committed to the care of Upper GI cancer patients in order to provide a prompt and seamless service. The role of the Macmillan Upper GI CNS includes providing information, advice and support for Upper GI cancer patients, and those close to them, at all stages of their disease. Including pre and post any surgical or oncology intervention.

The role will work in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to ensure a high quality; holistic approach to the management of the patient pathway is maintained.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated candidate who can demonstrate the appropriate knowledge and skills to join our team, where we are committed to ensuring that patients are at the centre of our service. Essential requirements are RGN of at least 3 years with a 1st level degree is required or working towards. Oncology and/or Upper GI experience. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

The ability to be flexible and organised in the workplace with a passion for delivering a quality and successful service is essential. We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic, innovative and flexible individual with the ability to work in a potentially demanding and diverse workflow and to work on his/her own initiative, as a member of a growing team.
