The Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust provides acute treatment and care for a catchment population of around 500,000 people in Bath, North East Somerset and West Wiltshire. Are you enthusiastic and ambitious looking to join a forward thinking department in our aim of providing excellent patient care? We are looking for a committed person who will join us in our vision and who wants to forward their dermatology career in a supportive environment.

 

We are a close knit team providing General Dermatology services to our local population of 500,000. We also provide expert care for inpatients with dermatological problems, including management of acute dermatological cases and emergencies. In addition we run clinics for paediatric dermatology, biologics, skin surgery and skin cancer, vulval clinics, immunosuppressed patients and contact allergy with patch and skin prick testing. We also have a big and very busy Dermatology Day Treatment Unit offering phototherapy, topical therapies and iontophoresis.

 

We train medical students, Dermatology and GP Registrars, as well as GPs and GPwSIs. We also train 2 Specialty doctors and a Dermatology registrar. We are involved in research and education with good links to Bath and Bristol Universities. You will also be expected contribute to teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.

 

The department is well known for its excellent patient care and expanding nursing team. We have CNS in skin cancer, and run drug monitoring clinics for biologics, isotretinoin and systemic therapies as well as nurse biopsies paediatric dermatology nurse advice. The team is supported by our very experienced treatment room nurses. We pride ourselves in our friendliness and the ability to function efficiently as a team.

 

We have weekly skin cancer MDTs, monthly journal clubs and fortnightly combined clinics, as well as departmental, clinical governance and pharmacy meetings.

You will provide general dermatology services to inpatients and outpatients of all ages, including paediatrics and in the community. You will also provide support for the emergency referrals during normal working hours. Providing clinical expertise for the delivery of safe, efficient and reliable services will be paramount.

 

You will have access to opportunities for education and developing a special interest. We foster ongoing continuing education for all staff, and can offer mentorship to help the successful candidate develop their potential.

 

This role is for 10 PAs but we are happy to consider part time and flexible working too.

To be successful in this role, as well as meeting the person specification, you will be a champion of a patient focused culture and be passionate about delivering the highest quality care and customer experience.

 

GMC registration with a licence to practice and inclusion on the specialist register (or within 6 months of this) are essential.

 

A relocation allowance will be payable to any appointed candidate who is required to relocate in order to take up the post. Further details are available on request.
