Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (BCPFT) is the major provider of mental health services to people of all ages in Sandwell and Wolverhampton, specialist health learning disability services in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton. We also provide community healthcare services for children, young people and families in Dudley.

Black Country Liaison & Diversion Service

                                    Police Station and Custody Suite

                                   Band 6 Nurse (either RMN or RNLD)

37.5 hours per week (Shifts over working week of 7 days)

Fixed Term Contract to cover for Maternity Leave (8 Months)


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced mental health practitioner, to work in the Black Country’s Liaison and Diversion Service, to provide cover for maternity leave from 1/1/20 for 8 months. The successful applicant would be working at either Wolverhampton Police Station or Sandwell’s 60 cell Custody Suite. The L&D service provide high quality assessments of those people detained by the Police, who may present with any vulnerability to include; mental health, personality issues, learning disability, head injury etc. The service will be delivered to people of all ages including those under the age of 18yrs.

 This exciting service is currently funded by NHS England and is delivered by a joint partnership between the Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Dudley & Walsall Mental Health Partnership Trust. We are known as a Wave 2 site and have been in operation since 2015.

 The successful nurse applicant must be experienced in risk assessment, highly motivated and someone who is looking for a new challenge and have the skills to make a difference.

 Applicants must be RMN or RNLD qualified and have experience in working with service users with complex mental health needs within a community setting.

The service is for both male and female service users and as the Black Country area consists of a diverse population, staff would need to be mindful and skilled to work with people of different ethnicities, nationalities, religious belief and backgrounds. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate experience of working with both adults and children/young people.
