Bedford Hospital is a uniquely situated NHS Trust with a relatively small footprint with up to 410 beds and over 2700 staff supporting a planned and reactive healthcare service to a cohort of over 300,000. It is an exciting time to be joining the newly formed Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which has resulted from the merger of The Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital NHS Trusts. The merger took place on 1 April 2020 and under the umbrella of the single NHS Trust both hospitals will retain their identity and individual hospital names. This will bring many benefits for patients and opportunities for staff. Both hospitals will retain their identity with individual hospital names and key services will remain on both sites and be managed as single teams across the whole Bedfordshire catchment area. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

What will I be doing in my new role?

Information Services Team at Bedford Hospital is looking to appoint a full time Senior Business Development Information Analyst.

We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic individual to join the Information service Department. This post-holder will be a key member of the team, delivering an effective, efficient and customer focused information service across the Trust.

The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of information systems, as well as having the required technical skills as defined in the person specification.

This post would be suited to an individual who is highly organised and remains calm when working under pressure to meet tight deadlines. If you enjoy working on your own initiative, have a flexible attitude towards your work and keen attention to detail, we’d love to hear from you

This post is open to trainee applicants who can demonstrate development towards the required technical knowledge and skills.

Although we have a very strong learning and development function, we appreciate you will need to have acquired some skills and experience from your career you will require in order for your time with us to be a real success. These can be found in the Person Specification and Job Description attachment on NHS Jobs. However we have highlighted three of them below:-

  • Experience of working in an NHS Information Services environment

  • Expert in SQL and scripting languages

  • Ability to simultaneously coordinate and complete multiple projects.

Bedford Hospital is situated in a beautiful part of the UK in the county of Bedfordshire. Bedford is a riverside town with easy access to quiet unspoilt countryside, which can become useful after a fulfilling shift. Bedford is one of, if not the most, cosmopolitan town in the UK with over 50 different ethnic groups represented.

It now provides a wide range of services which include beds for Care of the Elderly, ENT, General Medicine, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Neonatal, Obstetrics, Oncology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Vascular Surgery, Breast Surgery and Urology. A modern Accident and Emergency Department includes a 6 bedded observation ward. The Critical Care Complex provides both High Dependency and Intensive Care beds to a maximum capacity of 12 beds
