Are you an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) who wants to influence how nurse-led care is provided in our Intermediate Care Units? Are you experienced at prescribing and able to support your colleagues to develop their skills with prescribing?

This post offers you the opportunity to use your clinical skills and knowledge in a community hospital setting, help shape the model of care for our patients, and be part of the development of the service.

We are a very welcoming multidisciplinary team delivering rehabilitation for a variety of patients including stroke care. You will be part of a team of four Advanced Nurse Practitioners and three doctors working across the three wards.

Piper Ward has 26 beds and 10 of those are for stroke patients. Viking and Caravelle have 28 beds each. The successful candidate will need to work autonomously, providing advanced clinical nursing skills and competencies Duties will include history-taking, physical assessment and prescribing to ensure our patients receive excellent care and that our beds are used effectively. All our units accept both ‘step up’ (community referrals) and ‘step down’ (from both local and tertiary acute Trusts). The post holder will assess, diagnose and prescribe for patients with complex health needs, managing the episode of care as appropriate, as well as liaising with acute and community colleagues as required. You must be able to prescribe and have experienced prescribing to allow you to support your colleagues with their competencies.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner role will be pivotal in developing the patient care on the wards working alongside the medical staff, matron and ward managers within the senior management team.
