The Wirral is easily accessible to major airports and has excellent transport links including motorway, train, bus or ferry and within easy reach to the major cities of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester as well as neighbouring North Wales.

Ward 38 is a respiratory unit caring for patients with a range of respiratory diseases.

Inclusive on the ward are 10 lung support unit beds where you will have the opportunity to learn further skills or develop your skills further working alongside are vibrant team of multidisciplinary clinicians.

We care for patients on Acute Non-invasive ventilation, patients with Chest drains and also care for patients with tracheostomies and patients requiring high flow nasal oxygen.

In this post you will receive the necessary support to complete competencies in non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy care, performing and interpretation of arterial blood gasses and competencies in chest drain care.

We care for patients with a range of respiratory conditions including, COPD, Asthma, Lung cancer, bronchiectasis and lung complaints such as pneumothorax, pleural effusion etc. This dynamic area offers a great opportunity to develop high level skills in the field of respiratory nursing; we are looking for highly motivated, caring and compassionate nurses with good communication skills to join our exceptional team.

We would encourage applications from all specialities and areas as this is also a great opportunity for newly qualified nurses as we offer a great preceptorship program and also a chance to learn within a supportive team environment.

We also offer a respiratory educational program where you will have the opportunity to spend time with our pleural service visiting pulmonary rehabilitation service and spend time with respiratory nurse consultant and lung cancer specialist nurses and many more.
