It is an exciting time to be joining the newly formed Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which has resulted from the merger of The Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital NHS Trusts. The merger took place on 1 April 2020 and under the umbrella of the single NHS Trust both hospitals will retain their identity and individual hospital names. This will bring many benefits for patients and opportunities for staff. Both hospitals will retain their identity with individual hospital names and key services will remain on both sites and be managed as single teams across the whole Bedfordshire catchment area. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

What will I be doing in my new role?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic Physiotherapist to support the physiotherapy service on a permanent basis.

 

The successful candidate will be working within the band 6 rotation at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust, not only to treat patients with a variety of conditions, but also to assist with the development of the service and the therapy staff within it.

 

You will need to have proven clinical knowledge and skills, and, a problem solving approach to patient management as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of supervising students and staff is an advantage.

The Rotations Cover:

In Patients: Surgical / ITU, Neuro, Medical Wards / Acute Assessment Unit, Orthopaedics

 

Community: Community / community Neuro Rehab Team

 

Out Patients: MSK - GP and Consultant Referrals

 

The rotations are offered on a 9 monthly rotation scheme and are all lead and supported by experienced senior staff.

 

Although we have a very strong learning and development function, we appreciate you will need to have acquired some skills and experience from your career you will require in order for your time with us to be a real success. These can be found in the Person and Job Description attachment on NHS Jobs. However we have highlighted three of them below

 

  • 1 Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent

  • 2 Health Professions Council HCPC state registration

  • 3 Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses/CPD

The hospital has grown significantly especially within the last 30 years. It now provides a wide range of services which include beds for Care of the Elderly, ENT, General Medicine, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Neonatal, Obstetrics, Oncology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Vascular Surgery, Breast Surgery and Urology. A modern Accident and Emergency Department includes a 6-bedded observation ward. The Critical Care Complex provides both High Dependency and Intensive Care beds to a maximum capacity of 12 beds.

 

Bedford Hospital is situated in a beautiful part of the UK in the county of Bedfordshire. Bedford is a quaint riverside town with easy access to quiet unspoilt countryside, which can become useful after a fulfilling shift.
