Applications are invited for a Consultant post in Rheumatology Medicine Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust, based mainly at the Southport site, but travel to our Ormskirk site may be required.

To support the applicant in developing special interest and enhance a fulfilling career, this job comes with 3 SPA sessions. There is no requirement in this post to undertake General Medicine sessions however if interested applicants wish to participate in GIM on-call rota or Acute Medicine sessions, this will be supported.

The department provides a full outpatient service with daily outpatient clinics mainly at the Southport site. There are special interest clinics including early arthritis clinics and ankylosing spondylitis clinics, RSN Biologics clinics and joint injection clinics. The postholder will be encouraged to participate in any of these or develop any other special interest areas such as MSK ultrasound.

The Trust participates in the national early inflammatory arthritis audit and recent quarter results have identified the Trust as one of the top 10 performers for to ensure there are local arrangements for people with suspected persistent synovitis to be assessed in a rheumatology service within 3 weeks of referral.

Applicants must already be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of the interview date and have a certificate of completion of specialist training.

As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced DBS will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application.

The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit.
