Band 6 Chief Pharmacy Technician – I.T, Stores, & Distribution

A perfect opportunity has presented itself for a self-motivated and committed individual to develop their leadership and IT skills in this management role. We are looking for an astute pharmacy technician to join our diverse team to lead the Stores and Distribution service and effectively manage the onsite IT service, as part of the departmental cross site IT team.

With a patient and staff-focused approach, you will:

  • Provide overall leadership and service development for Stores and Distribution areas with the provision of complete pharmaceutical care to patients in mind.
  • Provide overall day to day management of pharmacy IT, ensuring:
    • The smooth running of electronic systems including JAC.
    • Resolving complex IT problems.
    • Designing and implementing reporting systems.
    • Carry out the technical set up and data entry for the system for the existing areas and when implementing in new areas.
    • Provide training in the use of pharmacy and electronic prescribing systems,
    • Participate in an on call service for electronic prescribing.
  • Act as a role model to all staff.

You will also have:

  • 3 years post Pharmacy Technician qualification experience in a hospital environment.
  • 2 years experience of the specialist function for area of responsibility.
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A flexible approach and commitment to accommodate the needs of the service.
  • A strong attention to detail.
  • A nationally recognised accredited accuracy checking qualification.

This post offers in-service development training and the opportunity to gain valuable skills in a senior role. A requirement to participate in evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis will be necessary.
