An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated, enthusiastic and skilled Biomedical Scientist Team Manager to join the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department at Salisbury District Hospital. The Laboratory is well equipped and highly regarded by our users. The department has implemented a managed service contract which has given us state of the art equipment and modern facilities. The Haematology section is Beckman based with 3 x DXH analysers and 1 x SMS. The Coagulation section has 2 x ACLTOP 500 analysers and Blood Transfusion has 2 x OCD Vision analysers. The LIMS system in place is iLab TP. Laboratory Medicine is UKAS accredited and MHRA compliant. The department is an approved training laboratory for HCPC registration and Specialist portfolio. Personal development, CPD, and attendance at meetings, both internal and external, are all actively encouraged. As a Band 7 BMS you will have current registration with the HCPC with extensive post registration experience within Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion. You will have an MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject. You will have proven scientific, technical and communication skills in association with a commitment to training, quality management, continuous professional development, health & safety and audit. The successful candidate must be quality driven and have a good understanding of how to deliver a service that meets the ISO 15189:2012 standard. The role will involve day to day supervision and organisation of the technical diagnostic services within the department to ensure turn-around times are achieved and provide excellent service delivery. You will be joining our friendly team to assist and provide leadership, strategy and day to day support to the Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion teams and associated partnerships. You will work closely with the Laboratory Management Team to ensure that the high quality service is maintained and bring ideas from your extensive experience to help shape the future of the laboratory.
