HMP Humber is a male category C resettlement prison, situated just outside of the East Riding of Yorkshire’s village, South Cave. The location boasts excellent travel links, with the A63 and the M62 being less than a 10 minute drive away. Hull, The UK city of culture 2017 is just 20 minutes away, with Doncaster, York and Leeds all being less than an hour’s drive away. The area is also served by good public transport links, with a bus stop being within metres of the prison entrance, and the nearest railway station less than 5 miles away. 

CHCP CIC currently provides integrated offender healthcare services across HMP Hull and HMP Humber. We deliver a community-based model, bringing clinical expertise to the patients in our care, working closely with the multi-agency workforce. We are currently looking for a Band 7 Recovery Team Leader to join Offender Healthcare and manage the Recovery Team, comprising of Secondary Mental Health Care and the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Team and in return we can offer fantastic opportunities in professional development and training.


If you’re looking for a varied, challenging and satisfying role, this is the one for you. In a typical day, the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Nurse will carry out a variety of patient facing practical roles.

You will be expected to manage a caseload of patients with varying needs, all related to dual diagnosis and opiate substitute treatment. You will have responsibility for working within the service specification compliance tools for the team, ensuring compliance with service KPI’s and performance. You will have the opportunity to deliver group interventions, run clinics, work closely with prescribers and operate in a truly multi-disciplinary environment.


You will be expected to have a good understanding of recovery with significant experience in Substance Misuse and knowledge and experience of engaging with patients with mental health concerns being preferable. It is essential that you maintain a clinical registration and are a registered nurse and you will be expected to understand and implement NICE guidance measures, working within a clinical governance framework.


Importantly, as a Recovery Nurse, you will be a positive and motivated role model to both patients and colleagues. You will provide a valuable role in the recovery of the patients we engage with and have an opportunity to support in recovery journeys. You will work in close partnership with all staff throughout Offender Healthcare to ensure that an integrated and seamless service is provided and liaise closely to maintain positive working relationships with our Prison Service colleagues.


You must also be open to learning and developing your skills and competencies, with the full support of the Offender health leadership team and the CHCP Learning resources and development team.
