What will I be doing in my new role?

The post holder will take the lead responsibility for the management of the Trusts IT Technical Infrastructure in line with the IT strategy, including the identification and investigation of any new technology that may be advantageous to the trust. The IT Technical Infrastructure covers both hardware and software and currently includes – all server infrastructure, all server rooms, LAN infrastructure, WLAN infrastructure, remote and HSCN connections, software deployment systems.

The IT Infrastructure manager will provide expert assistance to IT staff to aid the operational and project management services of the department. The post holder with have a good breadth and depth of IT knowledge and experience gained through having operated at a senior capacity in a similar role. The post holder will be required to be able to work without supervision and will need to understand the complexity of the overall IT infrastructure across multiple locations. The post holder will provide support and mentoring to Infrastructure Engineers and will be expected to provide out of hours cover.

  • The Trust employs a best of breed approach when procuring new solutions. Some of the technologies currently, in use are VMWare, SAN technologies, SCCM, CISCO and wireless technologies and established project management methodology

  • Proven ability to convey technical information in lay terms, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organisation and planning skills

    We are a friendly but busy and focused team with a well led top down management structure employing an open door policy to all staff. The department has regular team meetings both at departmental and management level. Good all round structured way of working.

It now provides a wide range of services which include beds for Care of the Elderly, ENT, General Medicine, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Neonatal, Obstetrics, Oncology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Vascular Surgery, Breast Surgery and Urology. A modern Accident and Emergency Department includes a 6-bedded observation ward. The Critical Care Complex provides both High Dependency and Intensive Care beds to a maximum capacity of 12 beds.
