This is a driving role in a long wheel-base vehicle with manual transmission.

The role:

We are recruiting Ambulance Care Assistants to work with patients to ensure they are transported safely and punctually for their non-emergency appointments in a range of healthcare setting.

The work involves caring for the most vulnerable in society so a caring nature is essential. There is also a need to be capable of lifting, as some of our patients are not able to make their own way to our vehicles. Please refer to the attached weight equivalence poster.

 

You will work a mixture of shift patterns some of which will be with a colleague and others where you will work alone. You will be part of the Oxfordshire team and will have help and support from a number of experienced colleagues as you transition into your new role.

You will be representing SCAS and interacting with colleagues from a range of healthcare settings including care homes and hospitals and we need people who can be professional in all their actions.

What we need from you:

You will have some experience of working in a customer or patient care role.

You will have a warm, welcoming and friendly nature and be able to reassure the patients in your care.

You be willing to work a variable roster pattern covering 7 days per week (including bank holidays).

A full current driving licence (B category and no more than 3 points for speeding)

You will be willing to commit to a three week, full time training programme based at our Newbury Resource and Education Centre.

Shift patterns vary across stations, depending on the requirements of the service.
