Clinical Fellow in Immunology, Allergy & Infectious Diseases

This appointment is for a Clinical Fellow (working at ST4 level or above) in Paediatric Immunology, Allergy & Infectious Diseases from August 2019 for a 6 months period, with a potential to extend to 12 months

The post will cover in week on service and the general paediatrics on call rotation. The candidate will be involved in the inpatient management of children with a wide spectrum of paediatric infectious diseases and immune-deficiency.

The candidate will gain experience in Tertiary Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases, including TB and HIV, as they participate in consultant led outpatient clinics, and consult service. The department is integrated with OPAT and antimicrobial stewardship. The successful candidate would be based in the Immunology, Allergy and Infectious Diseases department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The Hospital provides health services for a resident population in the City of Sheffield of approximately 526,000 and regional services for approximately 450,000 children under 16. The post is suited to someone with experience in either Paediatric Allergy or Paediatric Immunology and Infectious diseases, or a Paediatric Trainee interested in gaining experience in this field. The department is enthusiastic and committed to SPIN training programmes within the RCPCH, in either allergy (PA) and or Immunology and Infectious Diseases (PIID). Although this post is not recognised for training under the deanery, it will provide excellent educational opportunities and experience in a busy specialist service, and friendly teaching hospital. If the candidate is within a recognised training programme, and a secondment is agreed, training competencies would be met.

Applicants must have a minimum of four years post graduate training.. Full MRCPCH is essential. All candidates will need to hold full GMC registration and a license to practice at the time of appointment.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
