The journey towards end of life can be a complex one. Medical advances and changes in family lives mean that the care we provide to our patients and their families constantly evolves to meet the needs and expectations of our Community. Over the last year, Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Countess Mountbatten Hospice Southampton, have developed a unique partnership, with one senior team leading both organisations.

At Countess Mountbatten Hospice we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care and support to patients and their families, and constantly strive to ensure we reach as many people as possible, whenever and wherever they may need us. The hospice serves a population of approximately 600,000 and covers Southampton, and parts of West Hampshire. We are a registered charity and company, with our community at the heart of our services.

Currently we have a 25 bedded In-Patient Unit (IPU), a large day, self-help and rehabilitation centre, a community nursing team, Psychosocial care & Bereavement service and an education team. However, our services and approach to care are being constantly developed and expanded to meet the growing demands of increasingly complex health issues and the needs of the community we serve.

Admin Support Officer – Education Team

33 hours per week, to be worked flexibly in accordance with the needs of the service

Salary up to £19,000 per annum pro rata(dependent on qualifications and experience)

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Admin Support Officer to join the Education Team based at Countess Mountbatten Hospice. The Education Team coordinate and deliver training to staff including Induction and Mandatory training. We are also commissioned to deliver training to both care and nursing homes in the community to support end of life care.

This busy role will provide you with the opportunity to use and develop your skills with a range of systems including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. The varied workload will enable you to be involved in all aspects of the work we do to provide outstanding care to people experiencing death, dying and bereavement. You will also produce reports and undertake data input and analysis. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and excited to take on and develop this role.

About you

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills with a professional and pleasant manner. As a valued member of the Administration Team you will assist in the provision of a high standard administrative service to the Education Team as well as providing support across all admin services as required. A flexible approach to working routines, the ability to prioritise tasks and to work pro actively as part of a team is essential.

You will be required to attend regular training courses and follow the policies and procedures set down by Countess Mountbatten Hospice.

Previous experience of working in a Charity environment is desirable, but training will be provided to enhance the post holder’s skill set.
