Staff Nurse

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent post of Staff Nurse to work within the Intensive Care Unit at Warrington & Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Critical care achieved the title of OUTSTANDING FOR CARING ,rated by the Care Quality Commission March 2019.

Trust rates GOOD by the CQC inspection 2019.

Our purpose built Unit opened in February 2009 and offers an exceptional environment in which to care for critically ill patients. There are 18 funded beds in total, encompassing both ICU & HDU critical care.

We are a dynamic and developing department with a friendly, hardworking and supportive approach to those nurses who wish to seize the opportunity to develop themselves, their profession and the unit.

Are you a keen and motivated nurse with current or recent acute hospital experience? Do you want to work in a spacious, modern unit amongst a team of friendly, supportive staff? Do you wish to develop excellent critical care skills, in line with national competencies, to enable you to deliver high quality, safe patient care? If so, we’d welcome the opportunity to meet you.

Previous ICU experience is desirable but not essential.

Please note: Internal Trust applicants can also apply for temporary secondment to ICU Band 5 Staff Nurse posts. This is an exciting development opportunity for Staff Nurses currently working in acute settings within the Trust to come and join our team and gain critical care experience.

Please note pay progression is subject to the NHS Agenda for Change Pay Progression provisions applicable from 1st April 2019.

All posts are subject to NHS Employment Check Standards including a DBS check, if applicable. Depending on the classification of the post, in-line with DBS guidelines, a Standard or Enhanced disclosure will be required which may include a check of the ‘Vulnerable Adults List’, the ‘Children’s List’ and/or the Independent Safeguarding Authorities (ISA’s) barred lists.

A charge of £39 (Standard) or £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.

NB. Current employees of Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who have had a satisfactory DBS check, carried out by this Trust during the last 3 years, will not be required to undertake a new one. Where staff have not had a check (classification appropriate to the post offered) within the last 3 years, they will be required to undertake and pay for this, as per the arrangements above.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.


Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship
