IPS Employment Specialist (Community mental health teams: based in Cambridge)

As part of the NHS England initiative to expand access to evidenced based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services, we are currently seeking an enthusiastic Employment Specialist to join our team to deliver employment support to individual’s with mental health conditions.

90% of people with severe mental illness want to work, but currently only 8% are in work. Getting into employment can be a critical part of a recovery journey, so as an employment specialist you will focus on providing motivational, supportive and person-centred support to enable them to secure paid employment. You will work as part of the community mental health teams in a specific area (Cambridge) to promote employment and raise expectations around the ability of service users to access paid employment.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate in joining us to develop the service and transform someone’s life. You will need a good understanding of the barriers faced by people experiencing significant mental health challenges, with experience of networking and relationship building. This is a dynamic and diverse role where no day is ever the same – determination and strong listening skills are essential, along with initiative, the ability to form positive relationships and willingness to spend time in the community negotiating job opportunities.
