The Perinatal Institute (PI) is an award winning national not-for-profit organisation set up to enhance the safety and quality of maternity care. It is a qualified provider of maternity support services, including education, training and software for the standardised maternity records, fetal growth assessment training and software and perinatal audit.

We are looking for an experienced IT Midwife to assist with our continued development and implementation of our electronic notes project (MiApp).

 

As an IT midwife, you will be a key member of the team providing project management in the on-going development and implementation of MiApp for the NHS, to enhance the quality and safety of maternity care. The role will involve:

  • In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, to interpret and document requirements for the development and upgrading of the pregnancy, birth and postnatal paper and electronic records for clinicians and mothers
  • To work in collaboration with the software development, clinical and testing teams to ensure the safe and efficient development, testing and deployment of the application
  • To liaise with pilot sites in the local implementation and evaluation of the project

As the IT Midwife you will work closely with the midwifery and information technology department as well as the wider team to drive this important project. You will have the ability to demonstrate the discipline to work using your own initiative, effectively planning time, prioritising work and communicating effectually with all stakeholders.

Required Experience:

  • Registered Midwife qualification
  • Evidence of personal professional development to degree level
  • Extensive Midwifery experience
  • Experience on working with paper and electronic patient records in maternity
  • Teaching and education of multi- disciplinary professionals
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Ability to lead change and lead new ways of working
  • Detailed knowledge of current midwifery practice
  • Identify problems, define objectives and set targets, with the ability to manage communication of highly complex information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others
  • Presentation skills including presenting at workshops and forums
  • Knowledge of Audit and Research
  • Intermediate IT Skills

Desired Experience:

  • Masters level education or equivalent experience
  • Teaching and assessing qualification in clinical practice
  • Knowledge of GAP and PI maternity notes
  • Experience of working as an IT midwife within a Trust
  • Research & audit experience
