Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust was formed on Tuesday 1st October 2019, following the merger of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. The two Trusts joined together to provide integrated mental health, physical health and learning disability services to communities.

Healthcare Assistant for Influenza Testing

Band: 3

Salary: £18,813 to £20,795

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week across 7 days a week. (Flexible working patterns including zero hour contracts (bank) will be considered).

Contract: Fixed term or secondment (6 months)

Location: Edward Jenner Court; with remote working across Gloucestershire.

We are looking for a passionate Health Care Assistant with experience in community care and working with Care Homes, to come to work on an innovative area of service offering a Point of Care Flu Testing Programme across the county to commence 1st October for 6 months.

This post holder will respond to alerts from Care Homes via Public Health England (PHE) where 2 or more cases of Influenza are suspected. Public Health will refer residents to Single Point of Clinical Access who will contact the post holder, triggering a visit to test for influenza. They will be supported remotely by a clinician from the Demand and Capacity team to help prioritise visits as they are received. Equipment will be held at Edward Jenner Court, Brockworth and so shifts will begin and end at this location.

You need to have excellent communications skills and be prepared to work alone and work with Nursing Home managers on behalf of the service. Good working knowledge of SystmOne is essential. You will be required to travel around the county in your own vehicle.
