An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join the renal team on Eagle Ward. This post is part time at 23hrs per week and would include some nights and weekends.

Eagle Ward comprises of 15 inpatient beds and a 10 bed ambulatory Haemodialysis unit, staff rotate between the two areas: Eagle Acute and Eagle Haemodialysis. Both areas provide specialist care to Neonates, Infants, Children and Adolescents.

Eagle Acute cares for patients with renal disease, including Acute, Chronic and End Stage Kidney Disease. We also undertake both live-related and Deceased Donor Renal Transplantation and care for patients requiring Peritoneal Dialysis.

Haemodialysis cares for chronic patients requiring renal replacement therapy in-centre. The unit provides Haemodialysis, Haemodiafiltration and Home Haemodialysis for patients whilst attending to patient’s complex needs.

Eagle Ward provides nursing staff the chance to develop and enhance essential high dependency skills, management of critical blood pressure anomalies and fluid balance disturbances as well as an understanding of the principles of dialysis and transplantation. We have established a robust educational programme including comprehensive specialist workbooks, a renal foundation course and a degree level nephrology unit; enabling you to provide a high standard of holistic family centred care to children and their families.

Senior Staff Nurses take charge of the unit in the absence of the ward sisters and lead a team of Band 5 nurses and HCAs and are responsible for their professional development. The team of Band 6 nurses are integral to maintaining Eagle Ward’s high standards of nursing care.
