Care Group Deputy Service Manager

Location – Cumbria wide

5 x 37.5 hour posts available

Are you an aspiring Manager looking for a route into management within a busy health care environment?

Reporting to the Service Manager, the post holder will have a specific role supporting clinical Services, Performance Management and Service Development within a specified Care Group.

Duties include:

• Assisting the service Manager with the operational management of the services, being managerially responsible for at least one key function of the service.

• Deputising for the Service Manager as designated.

• Holding delegated responsibility for key areas of service delivery, for example, operational and performance management in relation to constitutional standard waiting times and achieving financial balance.

• Actively supporting the achievement of objectives within both corporate and care group agenda

• Participate in any shift system which is associated with this role outside of normal working hours, in order to fulfil the requirements of the base service and also the wider Trust. These arrangements may vary from time to time depending upon Trust requirements in the best interests in service delivery.

• Manage pay and non-pay resources associated with defined speciality/specialities across the trust.

• Responsibility is held for the effective management of staff in HR issues, including recruitment, appraisal, grievance, disciplinary and sickness absence.

• Support delivery of the maintenance and successful achievement of local and national performance management targets.

• Ensure that ward/departments maintain the highest standards and performance requirements under corporate and clinical governance procedures.

• Support improvement / developments of service.

At times Portfolios will change depending upon Trust requirements in the best interests in service

delivery, and personal development.

• The post holder will be expected to work across multiple sites.

Interviews will be held at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £26 + Administration cost of £4.20 = deducted at £10.20 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 2 months.

Enhanced Check: £44 + administration cost of £4.20 = £15.20 deducted from 1st month salary and £11 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
