Permanent Post - 37.5 hours

Our services include; accident and emergency services, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. Hillingdon is situated in North West London close to Heathrow airport and is the second largest London borough. Our modern treatment centre at Mount Vernon in Northwood offers routine inpatient services, diagnostics and outpatient clinics.

We aim to continually improve our facilities and services and some recent improvements include: a new acute medical unit and endoscopy suite, a new specialist neuro-rehab unit, a refurbishment of our maternity unit, a new Macmillan cancer information centre as well as an award winning dementia friendly ward for elderly people with complex health conditions.

We are now seeking an experienced band 7 Critical care nurse to join our friendly and professional Critical Care Outreach team. This is a highly regarded team, supporting medical and nursing staff in the care of the deteriorating patient and following up patients post ITU. You will gain experience in teaching, both formal and bedside. We deliver study days such as the ALERT course, NIV, Tracheostomy and also the deteriorating patient study day which utilises our modern SIM suite.

You will have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and skills in the management of the acutely ill patient and as education and audit are integral to this role, there are further opportunities to develop these skills.

Our service currently covers seven days a week with a plan to increase the service to cover 24/7 in the next year. We encourage inter-professional team working and are an active member of the North West London Critical Care Network (NWLCCN).

Successful applicants ideally should have the following:

  • Recent experience in critical care/acute care with at least 2 years at band 6 .
  • Successful completion of a 60 credit Critical Care Course
  • A mentorship qualification
  • Teaching experience
  • Leadership experience
  • BSc in Nursing
  • ALS provider (Band 7) (or be willing to undertake within six months of commencing work within the Trust.

Desirable:

  • Audit experience
  • Teaching qualification
