Both hospitals within our Trust—Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital—were rated as ‘Good’ overall.

Our Trust was awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating for ‘use of resources’ by an NHS Improvement inspection which was completed during the same period as the CQC assessment.

The Role


This post joins the existing team of paediatric emergency consultants as part of maternity leave cover. Consultant posts have increased in recent years to enhance the clinical cover of the department and now includes near 24-hour consultant delivered care out of hours. The department has a full weekend and midweek late shift cover to 22.00, which translates to a 1:5 weekend and weekly late shift commitment. A separate paediatric resident consultant rota covers night shifts. Staffing levels are matched by excellent facilities in a recently redeveloped department.

In the PED, the post holder will lead the clinical team, supervise and support, and be responsible for maintaining and advancing the department’s existing reputation for clinical excellence and indicator compliance. A recent London School of Paediatrics trainee survey was very positive about the training at Chelsea and Westminster where 100% rated us as ‘good or excellent’ in overall satisfaction.
