Northwest Ambulance Service are looking to recruit permanent and Bank Ambulance Care Assistants in the Greater Manchester and East Lancashire Areas

Band 2 £17,460.00 - £18,702.00 PA PRO RATA.

The Trust is looking to recruit staff who are committed and flexible to work as Care Assistants for the Patient Transport Service, providing high quality care and support to patients being transported for non-emergency appointments. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from treatment centres, ensuring that they are supported and cared for appropriately during their journey and that any patients feeling unwell are provided with appropriate assistance.

As a Patient Transport Care Assistant Band 2, you will work independently supporting patients with some mobility restrictions and this could encompass transporting patients in their own wheelchairs. In all cases you must be able to support patients with empathy, care and dignity, ensuring that their journey is safe and comfortable and that any required support and care is offered. You will need to select and apply appropriate skills and equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency and scope of practice.

The post holder will have a proven ability to prioritise and organise their workload and be able to meet deadlines whilst dealing with the challenge of working in a pressurised environment. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to use your initiative, both whilst working unsupervised and as part of a team.

You will hold a valid EU driving licence with no more than 3 endorsement points (in exceptional circumstances a maximum of 6 points may be considered).

If your application is shortlisted you will be asked to complete an online psychometric assessment, from the time of issue this will be expected to be completed within two days. If your psychometric assessment reaches the required benchmark you will progress to the next stage of assessments.

Successful candidates will be required to attend a 3 week full time training course at a designated training centre.
