Due to the reconfiguration of the Anaesthetic and Critical Care workforce, we have 3 full time vacancies for the above posts.

The successful candidates will have at least 2 years experience of anaesthesia, and have passed basic competencies including for Obstetrics. They will have worked recently in the NHS. They should also have experience in working on the ICU, and will be expected to run lists without direct supervision. The successful candidates will be expected to work at both Southport and Ormskirk hospital sites.

The post involves providing anaesthetic services for a wide range of surgical specialties, including general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, ENT, obstetrics. The post includes being part of a shift rota to cover out of hours services on the ICU, and maternity units, and attracts 10 + 3.5 PA’s of which 1.5 are for SPA.

The department covers a wide range of surgical specialties including General and Vascular Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Day Case ENT Surgery, Dental Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery and Intensive Care. There is a Supra Regional Spinal Injuries Unit at the SouthportHospital site and an acute and chronic pain service exists on both sites.

The Department of Anaesthesia consists of 17 Consultants, 3 Associate Specialists, 13 Specialist Doctors, 3 ST trainees, 3 CT2’s, 3 CT1’s and 1 ACCS trainees providing an Anaesthetic service to the Trust which is based on two main sites at Southport & Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital.
